This interior features the transformation of a beautiful, but bland living and dining spaces into an art rich, dramatic, sophisticated, and functional environment.
One of my goals for the dining room was to create drama, balance, and to take advantage of the 12 foot ceilings. The homeowner’s existing silk draperies were attractive, but were not the best length for the space, so I lengthened them by adding a beautiful coordinating fabric to the base and hung them high above the windows. Art and an amazing mirror were added for visual interest and are illustrations of the homeowner’s classic modern style. The space plan was modified by adding a new elegant buffet for service and storage.
Drama was created in this classic dining room by covering the room’s architectural elements; the trey ceiling and grand columns, with a custom hand painted gold metallic/dark chocolate wall covering. The walls were lavished in a rich pearlescent hue that warms the space and helps to further establish an air of creative sophistication.
The living room’s space plan was changed to create a better flow and more functional seating arrangement. The addition of three hand embroidered ottomans was the perfect solution for accommodating extra guests. The draperies were also lengthened in this room to play up the incredible height of the ceilings. The room was finished off with an exceptional framed work of art and a pair of nickel plated gourds for lighting.
